We are excited to reveal this impressive release of gold and silver coins to celebrate the behemoth war machine, the AT-AT Walker - the famous symbol of the Empire’s military might! Especially since we have created a massive 5oz silver coin befitting this gigantic combat vehicle.
All three coins feature the gigantic AT-AT Walker during the Battle of Hoth™ in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – which was the first Star Wars™ movie to feature this four-legged technological terror. As legal tender coins, the obverse of each simply bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
These All-Terrain Armoured Transport (AT-AT) Walkers were used by the Imperial ground forces. Standing over 20 meters tall with blast-impervious armour plating, these massive constructs were used as much for psychological effect as they were for tactical advantage.
During the Battle of Hoth, General Maximilian Veers™ led a squadron of AT-ATs on the icy fields of Hoth to knock out the shield generator that protected Echo Base, the Rebel headquarters. The triumph of Veers' squadron allowed the Imperials to invade Echo Base and rout the Rebels, striking a major blow in the war.
Both the 1oz silver and 1/4oz gold coins show the Walkers fully, and beautifully, engraved amid the Hoth battle landscape. The 5oz silver coin has the monumental AT-AT engraved in silver against a coloured Hoth background, which provides a striking contrast to the mirror-finish of the sky.
All the coins are placed in high-quality packaging with Star Wars branding. Each has a Certificate of Authenticity to confirm it as legal tender and shows the coin’s unique number in its mintage - which is a lowly 300 for the big 5oz coin! The 1oz coin is limited to 2,000 while the 1/4oz gold has a desirable mintage of only 150.
