DC Comics - 1966 Batmobile 1oz Silver Coin
KAPOW! This fantastic coin, featuring the 1966 Batmobile, is the first in our DC Comics officially licensed Batmobile 1oz Silver Coin Collection.
The coin features this iconic Batmobile in colour along with the 1966 BATMAN™ Classic TV Series logo. An engraved and coloured close-up image of BATMAN, and the words 1966 Batmobile, are featured on an antiqued background - adding further delight to the design. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse of the coin confirms it as legal tender.
This particular Batmobile was constructed by famous custom car builder, George Barris, following the purchase of a 1955 experimental Ford Lincoln Futura for $1. Barris spent $15,000 customising the car for the 1966 Batman TV series. It took around 3 weeks for him to transform the Futura into a car fit for a DC Super Hero, with a multitude of BAT-GADGETS™! Forty-seven years later he sold it for US$4.6 million!
The coin arrives in a magnetised acrylic block so it can be easily displayed or removed and admired close-up. It fits snugly inside a themed outer box which features the BATMAN logo on the top and more BATMAN imagery on the base. Inside the box you’ll also find a Certificate of Authenticity confirming the coin as one of only 2,000 available worldwide.
